France, Moissac

So today feels like a writing day, not a video day. No reason, I’m just playing around with all this, figuring out how it works. It’s a good diversion from the world, and anyway I’m always a soft touch when it comes to tech stuff. Words and pictures are fun😊

The weather is boring today. Gusting winds, humidwarm, grey sky. So I spent some time this morning teaching myself some fun new tricks (like how to do a newsletter on my phone as a way of potentially moving forward from fb)

Poor old Selma the very lovely e-bike! Been longing for a ride and so has she, but: rain, hills, muddy paths, and now wind. Or maybe just a poor attitude, what would I know

So the amble took me along the canal, just aiming for fresh air really, but I stumbled over a Merovingian church, as you do. The remains thereof, couldn’t really see which bits were from the days of Clovis, our hero from the 4-500s, and which were add-ons. Apparently there’s some pretty old paintings inside, but inside was trapped behind a lock. So, yeah.

What’s more, they built the new (early 1800s) railway right up to the wall of the church! Right over the old roman villa, right over the old roman baths, and the graves of Merovingian christians. I’m sure it was a good idea at the time but whoa. So now you have to find it between the train tracks, the chinese takeaway, and the cheapanddirty garage

Needless to say, it all got too hard, and I passed a quiet bar on the way home with a view straight out over the oldold monastery. And a friendly barman that's trying to teach me how to pronounce Affligem correctly. Probably needs some practice…😉
